US Delta Airlines Cuts Texas Route? What’s Going On

Delta Air Lines will end its Austin to Midland flights by November 2025. The airline confirmed that the last service between Austin and Midland International Air & Space Port is scheduled for November 8, 2025. This is part of Delta’s restructuring of its Texas network.

Short Regional Route Ends

The Austin to Midland route was one of Delta’s shortest connections. It was usually served by small regional jets. Reports suggest the service struggled to attract demand and mainly existed to support Delta’s growth in Austin.

Delta is now launching nonstop routes from Austin to bigger markets like Denver, Columbus, and Kansas City. With these new additions, the Midland service no longer fit into Delta’s expansion plans.

Midland airport officials were reportedly not fully briefed before the announcement. The change reduces options for local travellers. However, Midland will still be connected through major airlines such as Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and American Airlines.
