IndiGo Horror: 160 Passengers Left in Dark Nightmare

IndiGo has once again come under public attention after passengers on a Vadodara to Delhi flight reportedly faced discomfort due to a technical issue before takeoff. The incident has triggered fresh discussions online regarding passenger comfort and communication during flight disruptions.

According to airport officials, IndiGo flight 6E 657 was scheduled to depart from Vadodara at around 8:40 PM on May 17 with nearly 160 passengers onboard. However, reports suggest the aircraft experienced a Ground Power Unit malfunction shortly before departure.

The Ground Power Unit, commonly called GPU, is used to supply power to essential aircraft systems while the plane remains parked at the airport. Due to the reported failure, the aircraft cabin allegedly lost lighting and air conditioning support before takeoff.

Passengers reportedly remained inside the dark aircraft for nearly 30 minutes while engineers worked on restoring the system. Several travellers allegedly experienced discomfort because of rising temperatures and lack of ventilation inside the fully occupied cabin. Engineers later managed to identify and resolve the technical issue.

Airport officials stated that the repair process took around 12 to 15 minutes, followed by additional checks to fully restore electrical systems inside the aircraft. Flight tracking data later showed the aircraft eventually departed close to 10 PM, nearly 80 minutes behind its scheduled departure time.

The incident comes only weeks after another IndiGo-related controversy involving a power bank fire onboard a Chandigarh-bound flight. That situation reportedly led to the evacuation of more than 200 passengers after smoke spread inside the cabin. Although no injuries were reported in the Vadodara incident, repeated technical disruptions have started raising concerns among frequent flyers.

Following reports about the latest incident, social media platforms witnessed strong reactions from passengers and users. Many questioned whether airlines are giving enough importance to passenger comfort, communication and crisis management during technical delays and operational disruptions.
