Flight Overbooking Chaos: Ryanair Flyer Strande

A passenger recently shared what they described as their worst flying experience with Ryanair. The journey was a short trip from Dublin to London Gatwick and back the following morning.

Seat Assignment Issue

After checking in online, the passenger received a message saying their seat would be assigned at the gate. At first, this seemed routine, but the situation turned stressful on the day of travel.

Overbooking at the Gate

Once at the gate, the passenger learned the flight had been deliberately overbooked. Airline staff explained that this practice, where more tickets are sold than seats available, is legal and happens frequently, sometimes up to 10% of capacity.

Passengers Left Behind

When boarding ended, eight passengers, including the complainant, had no seats. Only three were accommodated, while the others were stranded. The passenger was rebooked for the next flight but worried the same issue could happen again.

Frustration and Distrust

Although they eventually travelled, the experience left the passenger frustrated. This case underlines how overbooking not only disrupts travel but also creates stress and distrust among passengers.
