A Qatar Airways passenger has shared a blunt and frustrated experience on Reddit, challenging the airline’s “World’s Best Airline” image. The post replaces glossy branding with a far more grounded account. It highlights the gap between reputation and real travel comfort.
Flying from Düsseldorf to Kochi via Doha on a Boeing 787 and an Airbus A330, the traveller expected a relaxed long haul journey. Instead, the experience felt tiring and disappointing. Long hours in the air only amplified the discomfort described.
Problems began before boarding during online check in. Every economy seat selection required extra payment, which came as a surprise. With business class unaffordable, economy became the only option. At 1.91 metres tall, the passenger said legroom felt like a short haul low cost carrier despite over eleven hours of flying.
Once onboard, discomfort continued to build. Reclining seats ahead made space feel almost unbearable. Cabin crew were friendly but hard to understand, complicating basic requests. Meals were acceptable but failed to feel premium for a high end airline.
The inflight entertainment system offered variety but usability issues spoiled the experience. Bluetooth headphones did not connect, controls differed between aircraft, and dim cabin lighting made drink service difficult to see. These small issues added to overall frustration.
WiFi proved equally underwhelming. One hour of free access with unstable connectivity felt outdated for a modern long haul flight. For a globally rated airline, expectations remained unmet.
Having flown Emirates and Etihad on the same Germany to India route, the passenger rated Qatar Airways as the least enjoyable. With a return journey still pending, the post reflects a familiar travel reality. Brand reputation does not always match the seat experience.
