The aircraft took off around 4:35 pm and landed safely at 5:47 pm after releasing fuel over Melbourne’s eastern suburbs to meet landing weight requirements. Several residents recorded videos showing white trails streaming from the plane’s wings.

Passengers Notice Low Altitude

Passengers noticed the aircraft was flying lower than usual during its return. Some initially feared a landing gear problem after seeing the plane circle over the suburbs, though Singapore Airlines has not confirmed any specific fault so far.

Airline’s Statement on the Incident

In a brief statement, Singapore Airlines confirmed the plane landed under normal conditions and no emergency was declared. Passengers were safely disembarked, and engineers began inspecting the aircraft to identify the cause of the technical issue.

Crew Praised for Calm Response

The airline provided meal vouchers to passengers waiting for alternate arrangements and apologised for the inconvenience. Travellers praised the crew’s composure, saying their professionalism and calm instructions helped keep everyone reassured throughout the return.

Safety and Communication Remain Key

The quick action by the flight crew and Melbourne Airport authorities prevented panic and ensured a safe landing. Singapore Airlines reiterated that passenger safety remains its top priority and thanked travellers for their patience and understanding.
