Bizarre Flight Swap: Southwest’s Insulting Offer

A Southwest Airlines passenger recently expressed frustration over a disappointing compensation offer.

Passenger Shares Email from Airline

The passenger shared a screenshot of an email where the airline asked volunteers to switch from a specific flight. The email stated that those who changed flights would receive a $20 LUV voucher as a travel credit, with fare differences waived.

Offer Details and Limitations

The message also mentioned additional benefits like fare perks and credit card rewards for the new flight. However, passengers who purchased EarlyBird Check-In or seat upgrades would lose those without a refund.

Passenger Disappointed with $20 Offer

The passenger criticized the airline for offering only $20 in credits to move from a 6 p.m. flight to a 6 a.m. one, calling it a major inconvenience. They compared it to other airlines that provide much higher compensation for voluntary flight changes.

Inadequate Incentive for Inconvenience

While Southwest’s offer technically gives flexibility, the $20 credit seems far too low given the time difference and disruption it causes to passengers’ plans.
