Andhra-Origin Teenager Makes History In U.S.

Arjun Nimmala, a 17-year-old Indian American, has made history as the first Indian American teen and the second Indian American ever to be drafted into Major League Baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays selected him as the 20th overall pick, solidifying his remarkable achievement. Nimmala hails from Strawberry Crest High School in Dover, Florida. Standing at 6 ft 1″, he describes himself as a “patient-aggressive” hitter.

Born and raised in the United States to Telugu-speaking parents from Andhra Pradesh, Nimmala has maintained a strong connection to his Indian roots while embracing American culture.
