Australia Hikes Student Visa Fee Massively!

Australia is one of the top destinations for Indian students after the US and Canada for a foreign degree. Studying in Australia is going to get costlier for Indian and foreign students as the country has decided to increase its visa application fees.

The change is going to come into effect immediately. The visa application for international students is now going to cost A$1600. Earlier it was only A$710. The increase is more than double and is going to significantly impact students who are planning to study in Australia.

This is not the only change in the visa laws that the country is having. Visitor visa holders and students with temporary graduate visas will not be allowed to apply for student visas onshore. By this move the government is cutting off a route that students took to get a student visa and live longer in the country.

It is claimed that the changes are made to tackle the housing crisis in the country. Excess migration has put a lot of stress on the housing market and resources of the country. In Australia, a large share of the population is of immigrants and the country relies heavily on them for the workforce. This new change is likely to upset many people.
