An Assamese couple recently shared their shocking story from Uzbekistan where they met a Bangladeshi man. When they told him they were from Assam the man laughed and claimed that their homestate would soon be a part of Bangladesh. The couple sharing their story were evidently looking scared and concerned after the interaction.
While such threats shouldn’t be paid much heed, they surely hindered the experience of that couple. The North-eastern states, especially Assam and West Bengal have their fair share of problems already. Whether it is the epidemic of illegal immigration from Bangladesh or various separatist movements, the people face enough issues in their home state.
Therefore, what the Assamese couple didn’t need was a reminder to be aware of Bangladeshis when they are enjoying a trip to Uzbekistan. Indian netizens were outraged at the person’s remark.
