COVID Is Back In The U.S. Now!

COVID-19 is making headlines after US President Joe Biden tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. He’s experiencing mild symptoms and has returned to his Delaware home for isolation.

The US is seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across several states including California, Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, Oregon, and Texas. Safety guidelines are being emphasized to curb the spread.

In California, Texas, Florida, Maryland, Arkansas, Nevada, and Oregon, high levels of COVID-19 have been detected in wastewater, indicating a significant presence of the virus. Los Angeles, for instance, has noted rising cases, with Mayor Karen Bass also testing positive.

Recent data shows that COVID-19 cases in the US are at 27% of last winter’s peak, with a 17% increase from late June to early July. This rise is attributed to new variants like FLiRT, which are more transmissible but generally cause less severe illness.

Symptoms of these new variants include fever, cough, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, headache, and runny nose. Severe symptoms like chest pain and difficulty breathing have also been reported.

Health experts recommend continuing basic precautions such as mask-wearing and social distancing, especially in affected states. They also urge vaccination, particularly for high-risk groups, as a critical measure to combat the spread of these new variants.
