Donald Trump recently showered praise on his old friend Narendra Modi, calling him both “the nicest human being” and a “total killer.” The admiration could be a sign of a great friendship or a strategic move ahead of the US elections.
During a podcast interview, Trump lauded the Indian Prime Minister and shared his anecdotes during his time in the White House. He recalled the 2019 “Howdy Modi” event and seemed impressed by Modi’s leadership style.
According to him, India was less stable before Modi came into power in 2014. He went on to praise the Indian PM for his ability to handle threats from nations like Pakistan and China.
This comes following the event when Trump called India a “great abuser” of trade relations last month. He claimed he was going to meet Modi during his US visit but it never transpired, leading to rumors that the friendship might have soured.
However, judging by Trump’s comments, it seems the friendship between the two leaders is going strong. This could also be a tactic to gain the support of the Indian-American voters, seeing the Prime Minister’s craze in the country.
Nonetheless, India’s future relationship with the US seems to be blooming regardless of the election results on November 5th.
