EB-1A Crackdown: USCIS Revoking Approved Indians

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is cracking down on Green Card applicants who are trying to game the system, and most Indians are getting their approved applications revoked as a result.

Rahul Reddy, an immigration attorney, claims many EB-1A profiles are now under review for fraud. Under the “extraordinary ability” category, some applicants, mostly Indians, allegedly tried to run a scam by publishing in low-quality journals, giving each other fake citations, and even flaunting questionable awards like the Stevie and Globee.

A user on social media even claimed a network of 200 people was working together to boost each other’s profiles through co-authorship and shady PR. Some of them have allegedly started offering services to replicate the same tricks for a fee.

Such strict action against fraud cases is only helpful to the applicants who take the legal route. Indians, who have been waiting for their green card for years, welcome this move by the USCIS as it might help their case.

However, some are sceptical, as the authorities might take this as a reason to cancel the EB-1A program entirely. For now, attorneys believe, the next step is to reopen past approvals, including I-140s and green cards and revoke them too.
