Imagine applying for a US work visa and ending up in limbo for almost a year. That’s exactly what happened to one H-1B applicant who claims they’ve been stuck in “Administrative Processing” since 2023, with no end in sight.
Their H-1B visa interview was completed, and the documents were submitted, but then… nothing. For nearly 12 months, their passport have remained with the US embassy, and the only update they’ve received is silence.
The applicant says their lawyer has now requested a second interview to try and break the deadlock. They’ve also asked for their passport back, just to be able to move on, but with no response, their life remains completely on pause.
People claim that this is what AP does. It traps people in a bureaucratic black hole with no job, no travel, and no clarity.
And unfortunately, stories like this aren’t rare anymore. Many skilled workers, especially from countries like India, are being caught in these unexplained delays with no real explanation from the US government.
While Trump’s crackdown on immigration hasn’t helped things move along faster, this case just shows that it has always been a mess to begin with.
