F-1 OPT Nightmare: Job Market Forces India Return

Imagine spending a fortune on a US degree, working for free during college, and still ending up jobless just days away from your OPT expiration. That’s the harsh reality many Indian students are facing and going back home isn’t always an option.

One such F1 visa holder from India is now staring at a July 10 deadline with zero job offers, no interviews, and rising anxiety. Despite volunteering at an NGO and applying everywhere, not a single callback has come through.

People have nothing to offer but the words “just go back to India” as they don’t realize how it brings an even worse nightmare for some. The F-1 student reveals that his household environment is “too toxic to live in” making it a harder choice.

Many students are in the same boat. They have done everything right, but U.S. companies are increasingly hesitant to hire OPT candidates or other H-1B Aspirants. Many firms fear visa issues or simply don’t want to sponsor.

The students need real advice, referrals, and solutions as the situation becomes more dire by the day. The system is already a mess with immigrants facing the most cruel and uncertain time under Trump.
