Fake Admission Scam Busted: NRI Students Betrayed

Private medical colleges in West Bengal are under fire for running an NRI quota scam. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched raids across the state to expose a seemingly elaborate racket.

The authorities busted many people in Kolkata and nearby districts, exposing fake NRI certificates used to secure admissions in exchange for huge cash payments. The issue was first flagged by Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari last year.

According to reports, undeserving students who were never NRIs managed to grab seats using forged certificates. This is a huge scam as ED believes it involves top officials and executives in the state health department.

This is not new as a similar crackdown happened in December, targeting institutions in Salt Lake, Haldia, Durgapur, and other key areas. Currently eight colleges are under ED’s radar with the investigation still ongoing.

The scale of corruption in Bengal’s education system is alarming. If these allegations are true, it’s a big blow to the deserving NRI students who didn’t get their reserved seats.
