H-1B Panic: Visa Denial Over Speeding Tickets?

H-1B workers in the US are constantly living on the edge. With fear of layoffs and hiring freezes plaguing the job market, now speeding tickets have become another reason that is sending immmigrant workers into panic.

A man was caught doing 105 in a 70 zone in Coffee County, Tennessee. It was his first ticket ever, but he’s not worried about the fine; he’s scared it might mess up his H-1B visa.

The cop let him off with a regular speeding charge instead of reckless driving, which should’ve been a relief. But in today’s political climate, even that feels risky.

His H1B got picked this year, but now he’s in constant fear that something drastic would happen if the visa officer digs this up. Will it cause problems during stamping in India? Could he get a 221g or worse, a refusal for this offence?

This isn’t just one guy. Many Indian students and workers are on the same boat of uncertainty. Minor traffic violations are suddenly seen as big threats, especially with USCIS tightening background checks and airport officials getting stricter.
