H-1B Shocker: Visas Revoked Without Warning

Getting an H-1B approval should be a relief for Indian aspirants but it seems things are never certain for anyone.

In one case, an H-1B was approved, but instead of getting issued, it suddenly went into Administrative Processing (AP). Meanwhile, the dependent H-4 visa was issued without issues.

Taking to social media, the Indian applicant wrote, “When I checked the CEAC status today around 2:00 PM, both showed as “Approved.” However, when I checked again around 5:00 PM, my status changed to “Issued,” but my husband’s moved to “Administrative Processing.”

A person reacting to the post commented that the H4 getting issued before the H1B is surprising. However, it could be just that the verification process is unexpectedly taking a long time.

Another case is even worse where an H-1B holder who was approved in October 2023 suddenly got a notice saying their approval was revoked. No document or RFE requests, no warning, just revoked after a site visit.

This has caused significant panic and confusion in the community. In the latter case, the person is left scrambling to understand if they have a grace period or if they’re about to be kicked out.

This is the harsh reality for Indian H-1B workers. One moment, you think you’re secure, the next, you’re in limbo.

The worst part is there is no explanation from the authorities and your only option is to hire an attorney to look into your case.
