H1B Trapped at Big 4: Toxic Boss Delays Green Card

Applying for H-1B and Green Card could be an exhausting process in itself. On top of that, it doesn’t help when you are stuck in a toxic workplace and your employer delays your Green Card by 3 years.

One techie took to social media to share his horrific experience working at a Big 4. He claims to be working 60-hour weeks and still facing the constant pressure of deadlines and lack of appreciation.

This is taking a serious toll on the H1Bs mental health who will have to continue this nightmare for another 3 years before the employer files for his Green Card.

However, seeing the current US economy there is no certainty that he wouldn’t be laid off or there wouldn’t be some drastic changes in the sponsorship policies by that time.

Even after applying for a Green Card, it could take several years for approval, meaning the techie is stuck in the same place for nearly a decade. This is a haunting prospect for anyone at the initial stages of their career.

Netizens advised him to look for an employer that offers Green Card sponsorships or at least a better work environment. While some US companies are turning away from the H1Bs as a result of the nationwide crackdown, it is better to keep looking than being held hostage by a toxic boss.
