Indian Killed in Canada Restaurant Over Bill

An Owen Sound resident of Indian origin, Sharif Rahman, a well-respected community member and owner of The Curry House restaurant, has died a week after a brutal assault.

The incident occurred on August 17 near his restaurant. Three men attacked Rahman and his nephew after he requested them to settle their bill while closing the restaurant for the night.

This led to a dispute, resulting in a violent confrontation outside the establishment. The suspects assaulted Rahman and his nephew on the sidewalk before fleeing. Rahman, 44, was critically injured and taken to the hospital. Sadly, he passed away later.

A fundraising campaign was initiated to support Rahman’s family. The community came together to honor Rahman’s memory, holding a vigil with around 800 attendees. The City of Owen Sound, Southwestern Ontario, Canada, lowered its facility flags to half-mast to pay respects.

Rahman was described as a kind and peaceful individual who contributed to the community through his restaurant and committee involvement. Police continue to search for the suspects, and video evidence from the incident is being analyzed.
