Indian Man’s Fake Wedding For USA Green Card!

If you can’t wait for years to get a green card in the USA, the best hope for you is to fall in love with a US citizen and marry them. Unfortunately that doesn’t happen with everyone. But this also presents an opportunity to young people who marry for the sake of attaining a green card. This is exactly what Vivek Chauhan, an Indian national did to get his green card in 2018.

Vivek got into a marriage contract with a US citizen solely for the purpose of getting a Permanent Residence Certificate. The couple never lived together and this fraudulent marriage ran out of time as authorities figured out about it.

Vivek was questioned in 2019 by US Citizen And Immigration Services about his marriage and at the time his on paper wife said that they lived together in Connecticut. Vivek had even lied about consummating their marriage by claiming his wife was pregnant with his child.

It turned out that the US citizen he had married had made fraudulent marriage contracts with a number of people before. The charges he is facing carries a maximum of five years in jail in addition to a $250,000 penalty. His fate will be decided by the court on the 26th of January, 2024.
