Indian CEO Apologizes for Sexist Promotion!

An Indian origin CEO of a tech company has come under fire after a sexist promotion campaign by the company made its way to social media. Nikesh Arora, CEO of Palo Alto Networks, has publicly apologized after there was a huge backlash against the company for using women as props.

At an event in Las Vegas, Nevada, the company made two women wear lampshades and used them as props. It is said that the campaign was inspired by the 1960s ‘booth babe’ culture in which women were used as ‘objects of attraction’ for events largely attended by men.

The company is at the receiving end after the incident. People are questioning if the company is still living in the 1960s. The campaign portrays a really sick side of the company which consciously or unconsciously treats women as objects.

The CEO has made an apology on LinkedIn and said that the incident is ‘unacceptable’. He also said that it doesn’t represent the company values. Palo Alto offers cybersecurity services to its clients, a field equally dominated by people regardless of their gender.
