As the Indian population grows rapidly each year, so do the crimes associated with the community.
Some of these crimes are shocking, considering that these individuals migrate to countries like the U.S. for a better life. One such incident involved an Indian couple originally from Kerala, residing in Desplines, Chicago, which shook the community.
During a heated argument over financial matters at home, Meera Abraham (32) and her husband Amal Reji (30) left in their Honda Odyssey.
While seated in the backseat of the SUV, the husband reportedly drew a gun and shot his wife multiple times. He then drove to a church parking lot and sought assistance from someone in the area to call 911.
Police promptly arrested him but couldn’t save the unborn child, while the wife remains in critical condition according to reports.
The couple had only moved to the U.S. a year ago; Meera was working as a nurse in Chicago.
