Indian Woman To Jump From 43 KM High Sky

If you’re an adrenaline junkie then the idea of skydiving would have come across your mind at some point. But this Indian origin woman is taking skydiving to a whole new level, literally. Swati Varshney, a scientist, is preparing to become the first woman to ever jump from the stratosphere. This will be a world record jump from a height of 42.5km.

The jump is a part of an initiative by Rising United, an NGO which aims at promoting women in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). Three women have been selected as finalists for the jump. The other two are Eliana Rodriquez who has Colombian origin and Diana Valerin Jiménez of Costa Rican origin.

The finalists have to undergo training for 18 months before the jump. Only one of the three finalists will make the jump and the other two will be serving as ground support. The finalists have to train for extreme conditions as temperature drops to as low as -80°c in the stratosphere.

If all goes well for Swati, she will become the first woman to achieve this feat and create a new world record. The jump is scheduled for 2025.
