Indian Youth First From Generation To Run Elections!

The arena of American politics is changing significantly for Indian Americans. This year’s presidential election is a good example demonstrating the influence of Indian Americans in mainstream politics. This Indian American has made history by being the first gen-Z member of the community to run for a senate seat.

Ashwin Ramaswami is running for a Georgia senate seat. He is a democrat running in district 48 of Georgia. He wants to bring a new voice that comes from an unconventional background in US politics.

Ashwin is aiming to replace Republican Shawn Still. Still was indicted alongside Donald Trump for the Capitol hill uprising. Ashwin wants to ensure that everyone has access to quality education.

Ashwin’s parents came to the US in the 1990s and both of them worked in the IT industry. He identifies as a Hindu and grew up with an exposure to both Indian and American culture. He is only 24 year old and if elected, he’d be the first gen-Z Indian American to a senate seat.
