Indians Lead US Visa Boom for Second Year

For the second year in a row, the US has issued a record number of nonimmigrant visas to Indians. The total crossed over a million as most Indians traveled to the country for education, tourism, and business.

This demand has been rapidly growing in recent years. Visitor numbers have surged fivefold in four years, with over two million Indians traveling to the US in just 11 months of 2024.

Immigrant visas also played a key role, with tens of thousands of people reuniting with their families and bringing skilled professionals to the US. This has strengthened the Indian-American community and boosted the US economy.

Indian Students also set records with over 331,000 now studying in the US. It reflects the desire for Indians to chase the American dream as they look for better education and job opportunities abroad.

However, the visa process still remains complex, creating hurdles for thousands of aspirants. This year, the US embassy finally took some steps to improve the experience for Indian applicants with pilot programs for H-1B visa renewals.

These numbers highlight a strong US-India relationship and the major contribution of Indian citizens to the US moving forward.
