Indians Run After Govt Jobs Even In USA

Many Indian-Americans are opting for public policy jobs over corporate careers, according to a top Obama aide. They are motivated by a sense of civic duty, social justice, and cultural identity. They also want to have a positive impact on the society and the world at large.

Public policy jobs include working for the government, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, advocacy groups, and academic institutions.

These jobs offer opportunities to shape policies and programs that affect millions of people. They also provide a platform to voice the concerns and interests of the Indian-American community.

Indians have a tendency to favor government jobs traditionally. They value stability, security, and prestige over risk, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Government jobs are seen as respectable and secure, while private jobs are seen as uncertain and stressful.

Some Indian-Americans, who moved to the USA for better opportunities, also prefer public policy jobs. They think these jobs are more meaningful and impactful, and they feel connected to the Indian-American community.

Some of the factors like increasing visibility and influence of Indian-Americans in public service, such as Kamala Harris, the first Indian-American vice president, and Vivek Murthy, the US surgeon general has impacted this effect in the US.
