It is known that Telugu-origin Jaahnavi Kandula, 23, sadly lost her life after being mowed down by a speeding cop on 23rd January 2023. The incident sparked huge outrage as the Seattle police officer Kevin Dave was driving 74 mph in a 30 mph zone before he recklessly hit Jaahnavi who was crossing the road.
A year after the gutting incident, the King County Prosecutor’s Office has stated that no criminal charges are being pressed again the concerned cop, Dave.
The Prosecutor’s office stated that they don’t have sufficient evidence, as required by Washington State Law to press criminal charges against the officer. It is added that there is no substantial evidence to show that Dave was acting with criminal negligence.
This decision from the prosecutor’s office has sparked a huge outrage from the family and friends who were hoping that justice would be done and the reckless officer would be legally prosecuted.
In a press release, the family said they are devastated and outraged by the Prosecutor’s verdict and feel betrayed by the justice system.
In this context, the file video from the day of the incident is being shared on social media and the cop is seen saying “She’s just a regular person Write a check for $11,000; she was 26 anyway, had limited value.”
