Kill India Poster Sparks Threat To Indians In Canada

Punjabi Canadians are outraged over a “Kill India” banner. Pro-Khalistani leaders distributed the poster blaming Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and Consul General Apoorva Srivastava for assassinating Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The banner invites people to the “Khalistan Freedom Rally” on July 8 from Great Punjab Business Centre Malton to the Indian Embassy in Toronto, which is the Consulate General of India.

The Indian government has not commented. The poster depicts the accused authorities as Nijjar’s murderers in British Columbia in June. The banner mentions Khalistani-affiliated Sikh for Justice.

Journalists and activists worry about the danger these claims represent to Indian officials. They want a thorough probe into Nijjar’s murder and maintain India-Canada relations. Sikh NRIs in Canada worry about these occurrences ruining Canada’s peaceful reputation.
