Green Card Horror: Woman Accused of Breaking Family

A woman has shared her distressing experience at a marriage-based green card interview. Despite having proof of a genuine relationship with her US citizen husband, she says the officer barely listened, asked invasive questions, and treated the couple harshly.

Interview Starts on the Wrong Note

The applicant explained that she did not yet have a state ID because her Employment Authorization Document (EAD) was still pending. Instead of accepting the explanation, the officer repeatedly questioned her over the missing ID, setting a tense tone.

Personal Attacks and Accusations

The officer criticised her past choices and even accused her of “breaking up a family,” since her husband has a child from a previous marriage. The woman insists she met him after his separation, but the officer dismissed her defence.

No Chance to Explain

During the interview, the couple were not allowed to speak freely or show affection. At the end, they were handed a paper saying the case was “in review,” leaving them anxious and uncertain about the outcome.

The woman uploaded additional evidence, including ID-related clarifications, after the interview. While USCIS accepts follow-up documents, they don’t guarantee a faster decision. For now, the couple can only wait as their mental peace remains disturbed.
