The Indian and the US government discussed a large number of issues at the trade meet hosted to facilitate ease of business between the two countries. A large number of issues ranging from visa approval delays and trade deficit were discussed in length. The key takeaway from the meeting is the pharmaceutical and tech industry that both the countries want to tap on.
At the India US trade meet, India highlighted the need for the US Food and Drug Administration to increase the number of inspections in India. This would result in higher exports from India. India has emerged as a key player in the pharma business and the US market can be a big playing field for it.
Another key industry which was at the focus of the meeting is the tech industry. India’s new import requirements for hardwares like computer, tablet and server made it to the discussion table. The two countries have been focusing on managing the trade deficit to a sustainable level.
Another key issue highlighted by Union Commerce Minister, Piyush Goyal is the long wait Indian businessmen have to endure for their visa approvals. The demand is to hasten the process and reduce the wait the period.
