In a major update on the Nikitha Godishala murder case, prime accused Arjun Sharma has been arrested in Tamil Nadu. The arrest followed an international manhunt led by Interpol after Nikitha’s body was found in Arjun’s apartment in Columbia, Maryland.
The 26-year-old is the ex-boyfriend of Nikitha Godishala, who was found with multiple stab wounds after going missing on New Year’s Eve. Howard County Police confirmed that Sharma was taken into custody on Monday through coordination with Interpol and Indian authorities.
Officials stated that Arjun Sharma now faces charges of first- and second-degree murder. Authorities have not yet revealed the motive behind the crime. The investigation continues as police examine evidence collected from multiple locations.
Nikitha’s sister Saraswati Godishala has shared further allegations in the case. She claimed that Arjun transferred 3,500 dollars from Nikitha’s bank account before leaving the US for India on January 4. His photograph has since surfaced online.
Arjun remains in the custody of Maryland authorities for further questioning. The family in Hyderabad has demanded a detailed investigation. They are seeking swift justice in what has become a widely followed case.
