NRI Boy Caught For Marriage Fraud

An Indian national has pleaded guilty to a charge of marriage fraud in a US court. Vikrant Chauhan, 32, admitted that he entered into a sham marriage with a US citizen in order to obtain a green card. He paid his spouse $12,000 for the fraudulent marriage and filed false immigration documents.

This case is an example of how some people exploit the US immigration system for their own benefit. Marriage fraud is a serious crime that undermines the integrity of the legal process and harms the interests of genuine applicants.

The US authorities have been cracking down on such cases and imposing harsh penalties on the offenders.

The court will sentence Kumar on December 8, 2021. He faces a maximum penalty of five times in captivity and a forfeiture of$ 250,000. He may also lose his permanent resident status and be deported to India. Kumar’s case should serve as a warning to others who are tempted to commit marriage fraud.
