NRI Doctor Convicted of Sexual Assault

Mohan Babu, a 47-year-old Indian-origin family doctor practicing in southeast England, has been convicted of sexually assaulting three women under his care, including one battling cancer.

The recent trial at Portsmouth Crown Court found him guilty of four counts of sexual assault during his tenure at the Staunton Surgery in Havant, Hampshire.

Working alongside his wife, also a general practitioner at the same clinic, Babu was released on conditional bail until his sentencing on April 12.

The assaults occurred between September 2019 and July 2021 within the surgery premises, targeting vulnerable women.

Complaints about Babu’s conduct, including inappropriate touching and comments, were raised by multiple women.

Babu’s misuse of his position, conducting unnecessary tests, and making inappropriate remarks, were highlighted during the trial.

Despite Babu denying wrongdoing, his employment at Staunton Surgery ceased in July 2021 following complaints.

While found guilty on four counts, he was not convicted on three additional counts involving two other women.
