An unexpected betrayal has taken the life of an NRI in Ahmedabad. Opening the door to someone he could trust, the Canadian resident was brutally murdered by a greedy couple in his home.
Kanaiyalal Bhavsar, 75-year-old NRI, was strangled and robbed of valuables worth ₹3.7 lakh from his Gujrat residence. After the post-mortem report revealed it was a murder rather than an accident, the Ahmedabad police started investigating the case.
Cops swiftly arrested Anand Prakash Thakor, 29, and Heena Akbar Ali Shaikh, 34, a married couple from Mumbai, and exposed their murderous plot against Bhavsar. Heena had met the elderly NRI while working at a spa and gained his trust over months only to rob him with her husband.
Bhavsar used to visit his home in Vastrapur quite often on his return from Canada. During one of these visits, Heena entered his house and left the door unlocked for her husband, but when Bhavsar resisted, they panicked and strangled him.
However, their plan wasn’t foolproof as they were easily caught trying to sell the stolen items. Anand, an Auto driver, was tracked down through the CCTV footage of his vehicle.
The couple’s escape plan to Mumbai was foiled and they will now face severe punishment for the crime.
