In a news coming from the US, two hotel owners have been arrested for hiding two fugitives in one of the corner rooms. The US has tons of Indian-origin hotel/inn owners, all over the country.
Dakshaben Patel and Harshil Patel own the Super 8 and Mountain Inn in Monteagle, Tennessee. The duo got arrested by the Monteagle police for lying about the whereabouts of two felony warrants.
They were identified by the Police on the balcony of the Super 8 officers patrolling the area. Officers chased the suspects and took them into custody for interrogation.
Indians and their descendants make up 1.35% of the American population and workforce. But, the percentage of hotels owned by Indians is a staggering 42%. Indians of Gujarati origin own 21,000 of the 51,000 hotels and motels in the US, a market that has a worth of $40 billion.
The Patels were arrested for lying even after the Police had advised them about the suspects.
