A surgeon of Indian origin, Amal Bose, aged 54, has been charged in connection with allegations of sexual assault at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in Lancashire, England.
The hospital had suspended Bose after reporting the allegations to the police in March last year.
Following an investigation and consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Bose was charged with 14 counts of sexual assault against six female victims.
The alleged incidents took place between 2017 and 2022, involving hospital staff.
Bose, residing near Lancaster, has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear at Lancaster Magistrates’ Court on June 7.
Before the allegations, Bose served as head of the cardiovascular surgery department at the hospital.
The Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, managing the hospital, has confirmed the charges and assured cooperation with the police investigation.
