OPT Job Fail: Indian Student Forced Out of US

Another day another Indian student in the US is forced to give up on his dream and return home. Despite having a US master’s degree, an OPT student is facing the harsh reality of visa deadlines and job rejections.

He claims the reason for not landing any jobs is his lack of work experience and visa status which screams “risk” to employers in the current economy.

The Indian youth is now met with a dilemma of whether going back to India is the only choice. People started pouring in advice like hustle for referrals, chase hiring managers, and keep grinding.

The idea of returning to India without any job experience is terrifying for many. It is unclear how companies will value or judge a US degree.

Some think a master’s might give him an edge, while others suggest aiming for MNCs for remote work will give him a chance at a future US return. But it’s not that simple.

For those clinging to the American dream, options are getting thin. Maybe another master’s or even a PhD can buy you some time but there’s no certainty where the US would stand in the foreseeable future. So be cautious before you head out of India to study.
