Ever since the Israel-Palestine situation worsened, one of the major international trade routes has suffered because of pirate and terrorist attacks in the region. Houthi terrorists have attacked a number of commercial vessels associated with Israel in any way. The Indian Navy has taken part in many rescue missions and stands strong in the Arabian waters to protect trade routes.

Two Indian warships conducted a major operation east of Somalia to rescue the crew members of a fishing vessel which was attacked by pirates. INS Trishul and INS Sumedha were the two warships that participated in the operation. They rescued 23 crew members from Pakistan on the 29th of March.

This operation was not just a successful rescue mission as the Indian Navy also managed to capture 9 pirates who were involved in the piracy. All the captured pirates were brought to Mumbai on 3rd of April. The Navy has handed them over to the local police which will now handle the case.

The Mumbai police will take legal action against them under the Maritime Anti-Piracy Act 2022. The Indian Navy has now conducted numerous such rescue missions in the region and played an important role in making sure trade and fishing routes are not disrupted.
