Rape After Job Promise; Indian American’s Deed

An Indian national in the USA has been jailed for human trafficking and forced labor. An 71 year old permanent resident from India took advantage of a woman’s vulnerability to force her into working including sexual acts on the promise of providing job and accomodation to her. The man has been sentenced to 57 months in prison and has to pay $40,000 as restitution.

The culprit hired a woman to work as a maid at a motel he managed in Cartersville, Georgia. He also provided her a room at the motel. He was very well aware of the previous homelessness and heroin addiction that the woman had suffered from and used these vulnerabilities to exploit her.

He offered to help get the custody of her child back which she lost earlier. But all this was a false pretense to exploit her. He started making sexual overtures to the woman and threatened to evict her if she didn’t do as said. He even locked her out of her room at night.

Then he made the victim have sex with him and when she refused, he removed her from the motel. The culprit used his position of power to exploit the victim in every way possible.
