Rare B2 Visa Win: Fiancé in US, Still Gets Approved

A woman attending a US visa interview recently received a rare B2 visa approval despite concerns about possible rejection. The case has gained attention online because visa approvals involving a fiancé in the US are often viewed with extra scrutiny by consular officers.

The 24-year-old woman shared her experience on Reddit after appearing for her interview at the US Embassy in Chennai. She revealed that she was nervous before the interview because she had mentioned her fiancé in the DS-160 form while applying for a B2 visitor visa.

According to her post, her fiancé is currently staying in the US on F-1 OPT status. She feared the visa officer might suspect immigrant intent and assume that she planned to settle permanently in America instead of making a temporary visit.

During the interview, the visa officer reportedly asked only a few questions related to her travel plans and whether she intended to return to her country. The situation became more positive after she explained that her fiancé was expected to return in March next year.

Her professional background also appeared to strengthen her application. She has been working as a data engineer with the same company for the last three years. In addition, her previous travel history to the UAE and Oman may have supported her profile during the assessment process.

Despite her initial fears, the visa officer approved her B2 visa application. The case is being viewed as an uncommon example where the officer carefully considered the applicant’s individual situation instead of making assumptions based only on her relationship status.

At the same time, many Indian applicants continue to feel uncertain about B2 visa approvals. Such cases often depend heavily on the judgment of individual visa officers, making outcomes difficult to predict. This approval has therefore attracted attention as a rare and positive experience.
