Shocking Murder Of Indian Hotel Owner

In a tragic incident in North Carolina, the life of 46-year-old Satyen Naik, an Indian-origin motel owner, was cut short when he was fatally shot by a homeless trespasser, 59-year-old Troy Kellum.

The unfortunate event unfolded when the Newport Police received a call about trespassing at the family-owned Hostess House motel, a business that Naik operated daily with his family.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police found Naik with a gunshot wound outside a motel room. The situation escalated as Kellum barricaded himself inside, prompting the deployment of the Special Response Team.

Despite hours of negotiation attempts and communication through friends and negotiators, Kellum remained uncooperative. The final confrontation occurred when members of the police’s Special Response Team entered the room. Kellum, facing imminent apprehension, took his own life with a fatal gunshot.

Investigations into Kellum’s background revealed his homeless status and a previous charge in 2020 for obtaining property by false pretenses, for which he was on probation at the time of the incident.
