US Election: 1 Million Indian-Americans Target

The “Indo-American Votes Matter” campaign has been launched by the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) to boost Indian-American voter turnout for the upcoming U.S. presidential election.

Their goal is to register one million Indian-American voters and make sure their views are heard by both major political parties.

With the election just two months away, the campaign aims to increase Indian-American involvement in the voting process.

Indian-Americans, though only 1.5% of the U.S. population, live in key swing states where their votes can be very influential.

The campaign also includes a survey to understand Indian-American voters’ opinions on various issues.

The Indian-American community, which includes 4.5 million people, is particularly concentrated in states like Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Virginia, New Jersey, Texas, and California—states that are critical for the election outcome.

Kamala Harris, who is half-Indian and the Democratic nominee for Vice President, will be competing against the Republican candidate, Donald Trump. The campaign highlights that both parties need to pay attention to the policy concerns of Indian-Americans to gain their support.
