US Elections: Did Modi Foresee Trump’s Defeat?

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sparked speculation about his relationship with Donald Trump during his recent trip to the U.S. The former US President had announced he would meet Modi during his visit to the country but it seems it was never on the cards.

This might be because Trump painted India in a bad light calling it a “big abuser” of trade relations days before the PM’s US visit. He didn’t explain in detail what he meant leaving many people upset.

Modi has also responded to his former friend’s statement with silence. After Trump’s remark, PMO clarified that there was no meeting scheduled with Trump as he had announced.

After the PA rally shooting in July, Modi showed concern for his old friend via X. However, after the second assassination attempt was made there was no response from the Prime Minister adding more fuel to these speculations.

As the US elections are less than two months away, many officials were looking forward to Modi’s visit and his address to Indian Americans. The Indian PM not endorsing Trump could be a strategic move as early trends show the Republican candidate lagging behind his rival by a narrow margin.
