The former US President, Donald Trump is running for US Presidency for the third time this year. While he would look to move on from his last loss in 2020, it is still haunting him in more ways than he could’ve imagined.
According to a new court filing, Donald Trump is accused of trying to overturn the 2020 election even before he lost. Prosecutors claim, the former president pushed false claims of voter fraud and engaged in criminal behavior to stay in power.
While earlier investigations have explained Trump’s actions, this filing includes new accounts from the people closest to him in the office.
One of the most shocking reports is after learning that Vice President Mike Pence was in danger during the Capitol riots, Trump allegedly said, “So what?”
It further reveals that he allegedly dismissed an advisor’s warning that his legal team could not back up his claims in court, saying the details didn’t matter. The documents paint an incriminating picture of Trump desperate for power.
The prosecutors argue that after losing the election, Trump’s constant stream of false information led his supporters to attack the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. These court filings just weeks away from the 2024 elections are a worrying sign for the Republican camp.
