US Employer Betrays H-1B: Lottery Won, No Job

Even winning the H-1B lottery isn’t enough anymore for immigrant workers in the US.

An H-1B aspirant recently shared that he got selected in the 2025 H-1B lottery, which is supposed to be the biggest hurdle. However, after landing a verbal offer from another company, the deal fell through unexpectedly.

The company rescinded its offer because it didn’t want to wait for visa approval. They said they couldn’t make it work for November or December start dates.

Therefore, the worker who was hoping to land an H-1B in October is now back to square one as his sponsor leaves them stranded.

It’s not an isolated case either. US employers are becoming increasingly cautious when hiring H-1B and F-1 OPT holders. With visa delays, fraud crackdowns, and stricter scrutiny from USCIS, no one wants to take a chance.

This kind of uncertainty, even after a lottery win, affects Indian techies the most. You fight through the brutal lottery, secure a sponsor, and still get ghosted by new opportunities. Worse, the employee feels betrayed and loses trust in future opportunities as well.
