USCIS Trap: Routine Visit or a Trip to Jail?

ICE has found a new way to trap illegal immigrants, resulting in a rapid increase in arrests. Even a routine USCIS appointment could be a nightmare for the community.

Recently, an alarming rate of people have reported about immigrants being arrested at their interviews, with ICE allegedly waiting at the premises. Overstays, people who entered without inspection (EWI), and even those without criminal records are now the prime target.

Some people claim this “trick” is not entirely new, but the recent scale is shocking. USCIS used to reserve such traps only for serious offenders and criminals.

Now, they seem to be coming after anyone they can. Lawyers and families are sounding the alarm, calling it an “entrapment” by the authorities.

Immigrants are walking in for biometrics or adjustment of status interviews, only to walk out handcuffed. This has sent a panic within the community with many now afraid to go ahead with their scheduled appointment with USCIS.

Immigrants now face a terrifying dilemma: comply with the system and risk arrest or avoid official summons and hope for the best. So if you think you’re just paying for a harmless visit to the officials, think again.
