Continued Mess, No Change: USPS Ruining Green Card

Losing a green card after approval has become a common nightmare for immigrants in the US. Many now face another layer of frustration the US Postal Service (USPS) losing their green cards before they even arrive.

Green Card Lost After “Delivery”

One user shared that their green card was marked “delivered” to an old address right after moving homes. Despite updating their address with both USCIS and USPS, the card went missing. Neither the leasing office nor the post office could find it.

USCIS Offers No Relief

USCIS isn’t offering much help. The agency asks affected applicants to file a new form, pay $410, and wait up to 18 months for a replacement. That’s an exhausting process, especially when the fault lies elsewhere.

Growing Number of Cases

This isn’t an isolated issue. Dozens of immigrants have shared similar experiences online in recent months. Some say USPS lost their cards even without any address change. Others say USCIS keeps sending green cards to outdated addresses despite timely updates.

A System Without Accountability

Many describe the process as broken a mess of poor coordination between USCIS and USPS. The bigger problem is clear: no accountability, no fixes, and no urgency to reform a system that keeps repeating the same mistakes.
