Will Desis Avoid Fraud in H1-B Round 2 Lottery?

The USCIS is likely to conduct a second-round lottery for H-1B visas in fiscal year 2024, issuing an additional 20,000–25,000 visas.

It is being predicted that the announcement will be made before the end of July 2023. Currently, only 70% of the authorized H-1B visa quota has been issued. The second round may be held in August 2023 or earlier.

In the first round, USCIS detected fraud as several desi IT body shopping companies submitted multiple H1-B visa applications for the same candidates.

We have to see if the Desi employers engage in similar fraudulent practices in the second round as well. The decision to hold a second round lies with USCIS, as they have to consider all factors.

Layoffs in the IT industry and employers’ hesitancy to hire foreign workers have caused delays in H-1B visa applications, which made the possibility of a second round a bit uncertain.

Applicants and employers interested in H-1B visas should stay updated with USCIS information to meet important deadlines. The H-1B visa lottery is a complex process, and any changes or updates should be carefully considered and planned for.
