Just as the trailer for Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ has been released there was a sudden interest in fans in watching the original movie.
The 2023 movie ‘Champions’ is itself an adaptation of a Spanish film and it was available to watch on Jio Hotstar. But it looks like the film is not anymore streaming on the platform.
There have been social media posts comparing the trailer of SZP and Champions and how it is almost a frame to frame remake.
People wanted to watch the original movie as it was already on Indian OTT but the movie was suddenly pulled down by Jio Hotstar.

When a remake is being released the availability of the original movie on OTT matters a lot in deciding the fate of the remake. We have seen how people who had already watched Forrest Gump had no interest in watching Laal Singh Chaddha.
But removing a movie from OTT after the trailer of SZP is released does not seem.very cool. People are wanting to watch Champions and suddenly they realise that it is not streaming anymore. It might backfire for Sitaare Zameen Par too.
