Bollywood star Varun Dhawan is all set to lead the spy verse’s Indian espionage directed by Raj & DK. Earlier it was named as Citadel: India, but now Varun said in an interview that there will be a new name for the show.
Joe Russo, who acted as one of the executive producers for the original show along with his brother Anthony, has taken over as the director for the second season of the original series.
The original show that starred Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra in the leading roles was released in April earlier this year on a weekly basis. It had a total of six episodes with a budget of $300 million making it one of the most expensive shows ever produced.
The show didn’t have the response creators’ had expected either from the audience or critics.
Varun also revealed that he went through rigorous training to prepare for this role learning extensive hand-to-hand combat and weapon proficiency.
It will be a hard challenge for Raj & DK to make a show that will connect with the audience unlike the original.
It will also feature Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the leading role. There is no confirmation about the release of the show but it will not before 2024 that we may get to see it on our screens.
